Hello!
I'm Castro Oriba, the founder of Newborn Haven in Kampala, Uganda. Our shop is more than just a business—it’s a humanitarian mission dedicated to supporting vulnerable mothers and their newborns.
At Newborn Haven, we focus on sustainable care by offering reusable cloth diapers and wipes, reducing waste while ensuring long-lasting use for mothers and babies in need, often young, single mothers who have been abandoned, left to navigate labor and motherhood without support or resources—especially those at local hospitals who lack the resources to care for their newborns.
What started as a personal commitment to helping my community has become a compassionate initiative that bridges the gap for struggling mothers, ensuring that every child begins life with the basics for a healthy start.
We believe no mother should face this journey alone, and that every newborn deserves the care and support to thrive.
By supporting Newborn Haven, you are not only helping mothers and newborns, but you are also empowering local women through employment, as they handcraft items such as swaddling blankets and reusable diapers.
Together, we’re making a difference—one mother and one baby at a time.
